Loyalsock Creek

Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper, in partnership with Loyalsock Creek Watershed Association, nominated the Loyalsock Creek for Pennsylvania’s 2018 River of the Year. Voting started right before Thanksgiving, and although we jumped out to a quick and substantial lead, as other waterway nominations are getting press, publicity, and social media action, we are rapidly losing ground.

We are at a disadvantage as we do not have the population base in the Loyalsock Creek watershed to draw on for votes. If we are to retain our lead, we need to act now. We need to recruit votes from within and outside the watershed. We need YOU!

Here is where we stood as of 4:48PM today:

cid:3FB81A38-0AC3-4128-9766-F970C601770C

Earlier today, Lower Susquehanna was in last place! And just three days ago, we had 78% of the votes. The results are changing quickly.

Here’s what I’d like you to do, if you’re willing and able:

  7. If you have access to the heavy users of social media (college students and young adults), please ask them to not only vote but to become social media champions for us too.
  8. Talk it up, up, UP! Let listening ears know that the winning waterway gets a year of celebration – paddles, hikes, programs, and more. AND, we bring attention to our lovely Loyalsock that is under threat. Plus, who doesn’t want to see the Eastern Hellbender become the state amphibian? The Loyalsock is home to this snot otter.
  9. Share this email with your friends, family, and colleagues.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. We really, REALLY need your help if we are going to win. And we SHOULD win. We have the best watershed on the list! (OK, we’re a little partial here. We can be!)

Vote today with your primary email. Vote again with your secondary email. Vote. Vote. VOTE! Then nudge, nudge, NUDGE.
